Blog Post #4

I believe that Squealer's reasoning is extremely contradicting. First he says that Napoleon believes strongly in equality and would be happy in letting the animals make their own decisions, but then he says that they make the wrong decisions that would lead them down the wrong path. If I was an animal, I would not be happy with his reasoning at all. He is basically saying that Napoleon's decisions are right and the animals' are wrong, therefore the animals should not make their own decisions. This completely contradicts the equality that Napoleon supposedly stands for. If all animals were equal, then they would be allowed to make their own decisions and carry them out if they wanted to. Saying that the animals make wrong decisions gives Napoleon a certain status as the higher power of the farm. This is not what equality is about at all and makes Napoleon a dictator in a way.
